Family History - William

This project revolved around my family history. My family is not very close with our extended family apart from a few aunts and uncles. Both my parents came from broken families and my father never even met his father. I studied a series of old family photographs (mostly black and white) and painted them on gold matte board. 
I tried to emphasise the disconnect that exists in the family by taking people out of their surroundings. They are all framed in gold painted frames and they are all different sizes. This reflects both the importance of family, and the kitch of portraits displayed around a house.
